The blasphemy law needs to be reviewed, said PTI Senator Seemee Ezdi on Tuesday, as she questioned the frequent occurrence of mob violence on such grounds.
She was speaking at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, which was chaired by Senator Walid Iqbal today.
The committee was unhappy with the absence of the human rights minister and the state minister for human rights at the meeting.
The committee also discussed the Jaranwala incident, where a violent crowd attacked and burned dozens of houses and churches over alleged blasphemy.
