Here’s When Apple Will Release iOS 17.2 to The Public

Apple recently seeded the release candidate build of iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, and additional updates to developers. The update packs many bug fixes and performance enhancements that all compatible iPhone models need. Other than the necessary fixes, iOS 17.2 will also bring a boatload of significant features, which the company announced at its WWDC 2023 event. If unsure, check out when Apple will release the final iOS 17.2 update for all compatible iPhone models.

Apple could release iOS 17.2 to the public as soon as next Tuesday unless the company decided to seed another release candidate build

iOS 17.2 has been in the beta phase for a while as developers work to discover and report bugs and issues in the forthcoming update. The company seeded the release candidate build of iOS 17.2 last week, which indicates that the final update is nearing. Apple also announced watchOS 10.2, macOS 14.2, and tvOS 17.2 release candidate builds to developers. The release candidate build is potentially the last update before Apple seeds the final iOS 17.2 to the general public.

Since Apple typically releases beta or final updates on Tuesday, iOS 17.2 will be released on Tuesday, December 12. However, Apple could also decide to wait another week and seed the second version of the release candidate to developers. This is because after seeding the initial release candidate build of tvOS 17.2 and macOS 14.2, Apple released the second version after a few days. Henceforth, there is a chance that the company will see fit to wait a few more days before the final release of iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2.

The iOS 17.2 release will be a significant update, considering the number of features it will bring. Apple is expected to include a new Journal app in iOS 17.2, a new translation option for the Action Button, spatial video recording support for iPhone 15 Pro, new widgets, contact key verification in iMessage, and more.

Besides new features and security updates, iOS 17.2 is also expected to fix many operating system bugs plaguing iPhone users. iOS 17 launched with a handful of issues and Apple was keen to fix them in initial updates. However, the company has yet to fix the problems with Wi-Fi connectivity and stuttering. We have previously reported that a strange bug in iOS 17 is causing iPhones to freeze entirely. Potentially, Apple’s iOS 17.2 release for the iPhone will fix the issues.

iOS 17 was crawling with bugs in its initial releases, which also caused overheating issues on the iPhone 15 Pro. While the company fixed the overheating issue, the persistent nature of the bug made various headlines that damaged the device’s initial hype. The company also took time off from developing next year’s iOS 18, watchOS 11, and other updates to fix its existing platforms. As mentioned, Apple could release iOS 17.2 to the public on December 12, so be sure to stick around as we will be covering the details extensively.
